No Baselines: AI Meets Beatlemania

What if Beatlemania could travel through time?
That question led to a no baselines experiment behind my appearance this coming week on SiriusXM’s Beatles Channel for the My Fab Four segment. Instead of selecting songs based purely on personal favorites, I explored a different idea: applying AI as a creative tool to popular culture. The goal was to see what might emerge at the intersection of The Beatles, historical icons, and artificial intelligence.
The framework is simple. Imagine a three circle Venn diagram (see image below). One circle represents The Beatles, whose music reshaped modern culture. Another represents historical icons, individuals whose achievements changed how we think about art, leadership, science, and human possibility. The third circle represents AI, used here as a thought experiment to simulate connections across time. At the intersection of those circles sits a question: if great figures from history had access to the Beatles’ catalog, which songs might resonate with them? From that intersection came four pairings.
William Shakespeare — Eleanor Rigby.
Shakespeare explored loneliness, identity, and the human condition. Eleanor Rigby captures those themes with striking simplicity.
Abraham Lincoln — The Long and Winding Road.
Lincoln’s leadership during the Civil War required perseverance through extraordinary difficulty. The song reflects the endurance and purpose behind that journey.
Albert Einstein — Across the Universe.
Einstein transformed how we understand space and time. The song’s cosmic imagery and sense of wonder mirror that spirit of exploration.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart — Yesterday.
Mozart’s music is known for clarity and emotional depth. Yesterday carries that same timeless melodic quality.
The experiment becomes part of my My Fab Four segment on SiriusXM’s Beatles Channel (Channel 18) this week. You can listen at the following times Eastern.
Tuesday (3/10) 6:00 AM
Thursday (3/12) 10:00 PM
Sunday (3/15) 5:00 AM
As part of the no baselines approach, curiosity and thinking out of the box often start with something simple. A question, a connection, or a different way of looking at familiar ideas. In this case, utilizing AI as a creative tool to connect Beatlemania with history became an experiment about how technology, imagination, and culture can intersect to reveal new perspectives on familiar works.
